Frazier Mountain Spring Tournament & Fair May 23, 2009 - Summary Review

 
 The sky was clear & the temperture was just perfect for our annual Spring tournament at the Tait Trout Ranch.
 
The new audience participation entertainment we added was a hit, laterally.  This was the shield hitting.  We built different sizes & wights of the shield quintain so kids & adults could take a lance & hit the shield from the ground.  They really enjoyed it.
 
Judging from the smiles & enthusiasm, participant enjoyed the archer, spear throwing, dirt skinng & other activities & demosntrations as well.
 
The jousting tournament was made up of a field of severe competitors & thier horses/ It was fast  passed with the riders skills evident in every field.
 
The jousting was exceptional, as tall riders presented just the right angle shield.  The hits were good with few deflection., Except for one occasion, the horses & riders were in harmony when it came to galloping down the list.
 
Our Chief Herald, Rik Fox was both informative & humourous in his communication with the audience.
 
Although this tourney was meant to have a games winner & a sport jousting winner the judges combined both catagories into one.  Due to his high games scores Chris Burk of Acton Ca, emerged as the overall tournament winner.  He received a beefy boar's spear for his effort as 1st prize.
 
An exceptional match occurred between Marcus Coleman & Brian Meredith.  All four of their courses yeilded double hits with most of them being 2 pointers.
Bodies ere being shoved around atop their war horses as well!
